To make this as smooth as possible, you’ll need to have a few things with you.
- Your voucher/eVoucher – this proves that you have payed enough for your car. It’s like a receipt and without this, you will not get your car that you’ve booked. Sometimes it’s needed to be in the form of a paper, but usually it works just fine if it is as an email.
- The credit card of the main driver with enough money to cover the deposit of the car. This makes sure that there is enough money to cover the safety deposit, so the rental company has enough money if there were to happen something with the car. More about this can be found in the post about insurances.
- Each drivers full, and valid driving license – the rental company must be sure all drivers are allowed to drive, of course. If you are the only one to drive, you only need to show you license. However, if there are more drivers, they need to show their license as well. The drivers usually must have had their legit license for at least 12 months, often 24 months.
- Your passport or other valid identification – this is to make sure you are the same person as you say you are. Without this, the rental is not legit and correct. You will not be able to rent anything without valid identification.
Also, keep in mind that different rental companies often have their own demands, and that this only is a quick, basic guide for you to use as a fundamental checklist. When you book your car online, you will often get a confirmation email. This will also tell you about what to bring, so you will know more specific. Although, it’s a good basic and it’s always good to be prepared.
