All 4Rentacar.com rental rates include unlimited mileage, third party insurance and local taxes, although some companies may act as exceptions – check the ‘rental conditions’ of each car rental company at time of booking in STEP 2 of the reservation process.
Things not included usually involve petrol (a deposit is often payable for petrol and is usually refunded if the car is returned with a full tank); personal accident insurance; collision damage waiver; garaging, parking and traffic fines; additional drivers’ charges where applicable; out of hours charges; young drivers charges where applicable (a definition of a young driver may vary) and optional extras, such as baby seats or roof racks for example.
The minimum rental period in most destinations is 3 days. One-day hires are possible in quite a lot of locations too, you can check this at booking: when selecting a rental date for the location that you desire, the system will notify you if the number of days cannot be accepted. The price is usually determined by the start of hire: for rentals over a week, the prices are mostly cheaper. If you wish to extend the rental period after having collected the car or if you return the car later than initially agreed, you will be charged locally at the local daily rate, which may be higher than the rates you see here at 4Rentacar.com. As a rule, no refunds are payable on vehicles returned earlier.
Collections can usually be arranged at the airports or local offices. A lot of car rental companies have only one or few offices, but provide an option for the customers to specify the point of delivery and collection for themselves – see ‘rental conditions’ when viewing the vehicles in step 2 of the booking process. If you do not want to pick up the car at the offered location (for example, a specific airport), just fill in the additional field, when inserting your personal data in step 3 and specify your preferred location. Please note that some car rentals actually do charge a fee for delivering the car to a specific location, so also check this from the rental terms.
Drivers must provide a full driving license (or in some cases an international driving license) held for at least one year. In some destinations, drivers must have held a full license for a minimum of 2 years or even longer. It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure that he/she has the appropriate driving license.
As soon as you have booked your car, an automated e-mail message will be sent to you. This contains data about your rental details as well as your car rental reservation number. By using this number, you can log in to 4Rentacar.com’s database and modify or cancel your booking any time you want. Please keep in mind, that when modifying a booking, the car rental company will need some time to make sure once again, if the changed terms are acceptable. You may get a denial and need to change your modified booking.
Simultaneously with booking confirmation e-mail to you, e-mail is sent to the car rental company to check the availability of requested vehicle. It could take up to 24 hours to get a response. In case of a refusal, you will be contacted by one of our representatives to discuss your rental request in more detail. Most of the cars are on a “free-sell” basis, which means that your request will probably be accepted. As soon as the booking has been confirmed, a deposit (varies from 10% – 20% of the total rental cost, shown also in STEPS 3 and 4 of the booking process) will be charged from your credit card.
If errors are detected (unauthorized credit card usage, etc.), an automated e-mail will be sent to you. In that case, you are expected to log in and review your credit card information – check your card number and the security (CVC2) code, card expiration date and more importantly, card type! Even if the car has been confirmed as available, yet 4Rentacar.com fails to charge your credit card for the deposit, you will receive no rental confirmation note and hence cannot rent the car. This is why double-checking all information that you have entered is so important.
In case of car availability and successful debiting of your credit card for the deposit, you will shortly receive a rental confirmation note. That confirmation is sent in HTML format (i.e. it contains pictures and specific text), so make sure that your mailbox can accept this. If this is not the case, the voucher can also be faxed to you, provided that 4Rentacar.com has your facsimile number.
When cancelling a booking, please keep in mind that you will be refunded 100%, if you delete your booking not more than 24 hours from making a reservation. If the booking is cancelled before 8 days to pick-up, the refund is 100% except for all necessary transaction fees. If you cancel the booking before 5 days to pick-up, the refund to be received is 80%; in case of cancelling before 24 hours to pick-up, it is 65%. If you cancel the booking later than 24 hours to pick-up, no refund is generated. This means that your credit card will be debited again for the remaining cost of your rental.
If your rental starts in 72 hours from making the reservation – or less, you can terminate the request free of charge as long as the car rental company has not confirmed the availability yet. If the car has been confirmed and you cancel the request, your deposit will be used as a cancellation charge. If you cancel your request later than 24 hours to pick-up, your credit card will be charged for the total cost of rental and this is not refundable.
In case of “no-shows”, we will try to contact you to find out if there is a reason for this (the flight is late for example). If we fail to do this, it will be regarded as a “classic no-show” and your credit card will be credited for the full amount of rental cost. This being the case, it is ALWAYS important to inform the car rental agency and 4Rentacar.com, if you are late.
Please note that suppliers can refuse to provide a vehicle to any customer who is, in their opinion, unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. We trust our car rental partners in their decision, but if you feel that their reasons for denial are unfounded, you can always inform our customer support of this. 4Rentacar.com’s representative will then contact both partner as well as the customer to find a solution. In most circumstances car rentals have good reasons for denial and your contract with us will terminate immediately, we will have no further liability to you. Please remember this at time of booking and present valid and correct data about yourself and your intentions, as then arguments are most unlikely to happen.
Child seats are mandatory in most countries and must be requested at the time of booking. Roof racks, ski racks and snow chains are available in some locations and should be specially requested at the time of booking as well. There is usually a charge for them, which is payable locally. But no guarantee can be given regarding their availability.
If you are under 25 years old or over 60 years of age, please pay additional attention at the time of booking. Some age restrictions may apply in certain destinations, and in some cases there is a young / senior drivers’ charge payable locally. Charges often apply for additional drivers as well, please check this at the time of booking. All rental cars are insured for a maximum number of passengers. We cannot be held responsible, if the vehicle is not large enough to fit all passengers and luggage on arrival. Also note that driving restrictions could be applicable when crossing country / state borders.
In the event of any mechanical difficulties or accidents involving your rental, it is important that all details are reported to your local supplier as soon as possible. You must also complete an accident form by the end of the rental period. Local police should also be notified in case of accidents and a signed police report obtained.
Authority to repair or replace a vehicle must be given by your local supplier. You should retain copies of all rental documentation in the event an insurance company is involved, as compensation cannot be considered when this procedure is not followed.
